Japanese Bilingual Senior Manager of Finance and Accounting

About the Role

Location: Berkely, CA (Hybrid-remote w/office commute once a week)

Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM (can be flexible)

Compensation: up to $120,000/YR (DoE) + benefits

Job duties include:

  • Oversee and Manage general and managerial accounting functions

  • Assist Senior VP of Finance and Accounting

  • Develop and manage staff by managing performance, setting goals, and maintaining strong employee relationships

  • Perform and process Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Close related tasks including preparing the financial reports with SVP of Finance and Accounting with the HQ

  • Calculate, examine, adjust, reconcile, and monitor all G/L accounts’ balances

  • Maintain Fixed Asset Ledger and process transactions, including depreciation, additions, and disposals; reconcile with General Ledger

  • Examine and reconcile financial statements with accounting records and reports in the accounting system (Needs to understand the workflows of the ERP system)

  • Manage the annual Accounting Audit working with SVP of Finance and Accounting and the external auditors

  • Manage franchise and property taxes and handle any other tax accounting tasks while communicating with SVP of Finance and Accounting and tax consultant

  • Reconcile daily cash receipts including cash, checks, wire transfers, and credit cards to invoices in the system with the Accounting Specialist

  • Monitor Accounting Receivable, Accounts Payable with the Accounting Specialist and take actions regarding significant past due balances as necessary

  • Approve invoices after reviewing and verifying

  • Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential


  • Must posses Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university

  • Must be bilingual in Japanese/English

  • Must have 7+ years of experience in accounting

  • Experience preparing financial reports in a manufacturing company (including cost accounting)

  • Experience preparing managerial accounting reports. E.g. Gross sales report and P&L by product and channel and region

  • Familiarity with tax structure; Property tax, Sales and Use tax, Franchise Tax, etc.

  • Experience supervising subordinates

  • Strong familiarity with CPG Industry (Consumer Packaged Goods)

  • Strong familiarity with ERP systems like NetSuite. (Including the manufacturing process cost)

  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel especially accounting-related formulas (“Vlookup”, “SumIF”, ”Pivot table”, etc.)

  • Familiarity with software; Windows operating system, MS Office applications

  • Familiarity with the IT environment structure to communicate with the IT vendors

  • Familiarity with General office equipment including phones, fax, copier, scanner, postage machine, phone system, personal computer, etc
