About the Role
Location: El Segundo, CA Compensation: from $100,000 /YR (DoE); exempt + benefits
Serve as the key advisor to Senior Management regarding employee relations and wellbeing, maintaining safe and productive workplaces, and implementing strategic staffing plans and organizational changes
Oversee compliance with federal, state and local regulations regarding discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, among other topics, and ensure that pending changes are communicated to Senior Management
Review and update employment policy documents including Employee Handbooks and KBAs periodically and ensure compliance with the latest regulations
Provide guidance in compensation strategy and alert management to changes and trends in the labor marketplace
Provide insight into sourcing strategy, employer branding, and assist in managing messaging internally and externally
Take ownership of HR infrastructure and administration, with the goal of implementing best practices and efficiencies to support the people needs as the organization continues to evolve, including modernization of platforms that remove administrative redundancy
Assess learning needs and implement programs around employee development and help the organization build an Adult Learning Platform
Lead, build, and mentor the Human Resources Team
Help establish a positive and engaging workplace culture by effectively supporting employees across multiple locations with all HR-related needs
Coach and guide managers and employees on performance management techniques
Maintain a system of periodic performance reviews, including yearend reviews
Manage and continually report on legal exposure to the company and associated costs
Develop and administer the Human Resources budget
Administer health benefits and spearhead efforts to improve employee wellness
Manage and improve the employee onboarding experience
Manage the employee exit process, including minimizing potential future claims
Conduct employee investigations, mediate conflict resolutions and ensure fairness and equity amongst the work force
Maintain confidential record-keeping of all HR-related data including personnel files
Review, update and maintain the latest Organizational Chart
Collaborate proactively with Payroll on issues that involve both HR and payroll, including project-related reporting
Maintain an anonymous hotline for employee matters
Assist Senior Management in drafting publications and other material to be distributed to employees to improve employee welfare and engagement
Represent the company in selecting and dealing with health insurance providers, brokers and consultants
Manage relationship with labor unions including Collective Bargaining Agreeement negotiations and grievance filings
Manage relationship with placement agencies, recruitment firms, and other sources of potential workers
Manage visa and immigration processes for non-US citizen employees, including coordination with the parent company for its employees
Manage relationship with HR-related system vendors
Requirements
Experience as a Leader in a Senior Human Resources role with at least 8-10 years of progressive experience
Bachelor s degree in HR, business, social sciences or related field; advanced degree is preferable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident public speaker; comfortable presenting and interacting with all levels within an organization.
SPHR, SHRM-SCP certification necessary
Knowledge of federal and California, New Jersey, and Georgia labor laws, regulations, and best practices
Skilled user of MS Office products, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to multitask across a broad spectrum of issues, but with precise and accurate attention to details
Solid working knowledge of administrating and implementing HRIS systems
Highest ethical standards and utmost confidentiality
Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
Competence to build and effectively manage professional relationships at all levels of the company
Ability to plan, organize, and direct a complex, comprehensive human resources program
Must be able to travel on occasion
